Her site started with pictures of her everyday fashion choices. Then ventured into her opinions about the fashion world. The teenager’s blog was so clever and in touch with trends that some people actually thought it was phony. It now has over 1 million visits a month.
Tavi’s surprisingly on point commentary has led to some serious clout. The girl gets around; she was at Fashion Week in New York this year, and she’s even hitting the cover of a major fashion mag. Her blogging has now become more than a hobby, with Pop’s Magazine paying her to write about her experience at the fashion week shows.
Just finished the 2nd season of the british teen drama "Skins" after a 2 day marathon while convalescing in bed. The end of season’s one finale featured Cat Stevens Wild World. Ah what would I do without instant queue netflix?
"Free streaming services are clearly not net positive for the industry and as far as Warner Music is concerned will not be licensed,” Bronfman explained of the decision. “The ‘get all your music you want for free, and then maybe with a few bells and whistles we can move you to a premium price strategy’, is not the kind of approach to business that we will be supporting in the future.”
Unfortunate because it seems that this is the direction that media and music is going and if they are to try to create a viable solution to the issue of music piracy they might be able to do it with premium streaming services such as Spotify which already has a huge following in Europe. Unfortunately it’s been on hold for at least 6 months here in the US but the good news is that things are looking up for the US launch which is anticipated to happen in March 2010. Now let’s just see how many of the major recording companies will be willing to license their music to the free streaming site. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for Spotify!
I used to live right around the corner from haight and filmore and considered it my hood for 7+ years. There was always crazy shit going down in the neighborhood. Good to know some things never change…
I don’t entirely agree with all the comparisons here but i like the idea. Kinda makes me wonder if I “don’t get it” or maybe i’m not cynical enough. (translation: not cool enough)
(via) Flavor Wire Inspired by Lauren Leto’s “Stereotyping People By Their Favorite Author,” we realized the incredible potential for a mercilessly judgmental list of indie band stereotypes. It is a common fact that Cormac McCarthy readers are men who don’t eat cream cheese, but what about those who listen to The XX on repeat and The Flaming Lips on hallucinogens? They need labels, too. After the jump, in collaboration with contributor Jeff Luppino-Esposito, we lay down the reckless assumptions.
